Scene 2

Scene begins as Jesus and His disicples walk across floor and Jesus stops and begins to teach as in the Sermon on the Mount. a small group of people then begin to ask for miracles. Pharisee and Saducee join this group.)

Peter: Where are we going?

Jesus: To my Father’s kingdom if you will follow me and have faith in me. But first we have needs here in Galilee.

James: How will we get to this kingdom?

Jesus: Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The road to Hell is broad, and its gates wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its’ easy way. But the Gateway to Life is small and the road is narrow, and only a few will find it.

Andrew: How will we find the gateway to heaven?

Jesus: I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man will get to heaven except by me.

Beware of false teachers, who come disquised as harmless sheep but are wolves trying to tear you apart.

Peter: But Jesus how will we know the difference?

Jesus: You can always judge a tree by what kind of fruit it bears, a tree that produces delicious fruit will never produce an inedible kind!

Peter: I want to appear to bear good fruit!!!!

Jesus: Not all who appear religious are Godly people. The way to identify a tree and a person, Peter, is by the kind of fruit produced.

(John appoaches with one man standing and another man half stooping and stumbling)

John: Jesus, this man has a demon that makes him unable to hear or speak.

Jesus: Satan come out of him! (softer) be healed.

Possessed man: I ....I....I....(looks around in amazement) I ... can ... hear

the wind... I .....now... can (falls down in front of Jesus) Oh thank you Jesus

Thank you my deliverer! Thank you!!!!!! You are the Son of God!!!! You are the Son of God!!!!!!!!

(Men join the crowd as Pharisee and Saducee come to the front. Others join the crowd and one cries out to some off stage)

Person 1: Come and see this man who can heal the sick and cast out devils!

Person 2: Never in all of Israel have we seen something like this!

(People Join group as Pharisees and Saducees begin to attack. Blind man that has sitting during the entire scene is behind group)

Pharisee: The reason He can cast out demons is that He is possessed himself.

Saducee: Yeah, to have such control, He must be controlled by Satan himself.

(Peter advances very confrontational to stand between Jesus and the critics)

Peter: He is NOT SATAN!

Jesus (to Peter): Peter calm down.

Jesus (to Pharisee and Saducee): Don’t you know that a house that is divided against itself can not stand? How can Satan cast out Satan? Would Satan bind himself up?

(Jesus pauses and then turns back to crowd)

Jesus: It is by the Holy Spirit that I do these things.

(Blind Man begins to cry out)

Blind man: Jesus, Jesus, Son of David have mercy on me.

Saducee: Hush you beggar fool, The man wants nothing to do with you!

(Blind man continues to cry, and Jesus turns to Peter and Andrew)

Jesus: bring him to me.

(Crowd parts as Peter and Andrew bring Blind man to Jesus)

Jesus: What do you have need of?

Blind man: That I might receive my sight!

(Jesus touches the mans eyes, and the man immediately begins to scream)

Blind man: I’m healed, I’m healed! Thank You Jesus, oh thank you Son of David!

(Lights fade and attention is drawn to choir and all exit in darkness)
