An Hour of Prayer

Everyone can pray an hour, and this is simply a guide to show you how! Below are twelve steps of prayer to follow. Get alone in a private place away from all distractions and at each step spend at least 5 minutes of focused prayer. When you get finished, you will have prayed for one hour!

1. Praise - Always begin with praise. Praise God for how great He is!

2. Forgiveness - Ask God to help you to forgive people that have mistreated you. Pray that God would bless those people!

3. Confession - Ask for forgiveness for your own sins and shortcomings. Repent before God and verbally confess to Him where you have failed.

4. Petition - Ask God for things such as blessings and direction and guidance. Make your requests known to Him!

5. Intercession - Pray for specific people that are on your heart and mind. Pray for your fellow church people. Pray for specific people that you are trying to win to God. Pray that God will help you to be a soul winner.

6. Read Bible - Stop praying and actually read a passage of scripture for this segment. If you feel led to read a certain passage, then go there. If not, then just turn randomly to a place. Some people like to read the Psalms during this time or a part of the Gospels.

7. Meditation - Quietly think about what you have read. Ask God to reveal how to apply it to your life.

8. Thanksgiving - Thank God for what He is doing in your lives and our church. Thank Him for past blessings and answered prayers!

9. Global Intercession - Pray for our missionaries and foreign nations. Pray that God would allow the Holy Ghost to fall upon every country that you can think about.

10. Leadership and Ministries - Pray for your Pastor and his family and the ministers and their families. Pray for each department and ministry of our church (ie... Sunday School, Youth, Women's and Men's, Music, Bread Ministry, Nursery, Fellowships, Bible Studies, etc...) that they will be blessed and fruitful.

11. Listening - Spend this time simply being sensitive to the Holy Ghost.

12. Praise - Always end with praise and worship.
